The history of Tawa Chicken begins in antiquity of Lahore, Pakistan in the Texali Gate area, where meat was cooked in different flavours and cooking style. Tawa Chicken was originally invented by the founders of Shah Dola Restaurant, Texali Gate, Lahore in 1966. The recipe was later adapted by many other local restaurants of Texali Gate, Lahore. One of the most popular Tawa Chicken of recents times is produced by Arif Chatkhara at Texali Gate.
